SENIOR SCHOOL NEWS Music

Year 7 have been enjoying a return to their practical Music lessons, developing the HPL skills for collaboration and perseverance.

They have been exploring folk music in its many forms in recent lessons. At the end of last term, the students were learning the well-known ditty, ‘Drunken Sailor’, which they have been practising hard in preparation for an assessed performance.

The self-discipline and time management skills involved in developing musical skill are invaluable to our students in their wider studies. Research has also found that learning to play an instrument can enhance verbal memory, spatial reasoning and literacy skills as well as strengthening memory.
