Junior Department
The Junior Department consists of Year 3-Year 6. Currently there are three classes in each year group. Maximum numbers are generally 22 per class, however, in practise we have an average class size of 18. The children are set into four ability groups for Maths in Year 4, four ability sets for Maths, Science and English in Year 5, and four ability sets for Maths, English and Science in Year 6.
The children receive specialist teaching in the following subjects:
French, Latin, Music, PE, ICT, Art, and Science and Design Technology.
The above specialist subjects are taught in dedicated classrooms/labs.
St. Edward’s prides itself on a high level of pastoral care. The school strives to be open, family orientated and friendly. The Headmaster and the Management Team are “hands on” and along with the class teachers, work hard to ensure that the pupils are productive and happy, and that parents are involved with every stage of their children’s education.
